We are raising money to commission a Buffalo orangetoto Sculpture for Preston street
Location
The Saint Joseph Area Association is working to commission, produce and install a public sculpture of Buffalo on Preston Street between Clark’s Lane and Harrison Ave.
The sculpture is meant to resemble buffalo orangetoto in recognition and celebration of the road originally being stamped out centuries ago by herds of migrating buffalo.
“We found every where abundance of wild beasts of all sorts, through this vast forest. Orangetoto The buffaloes were more frequent than I had seen cattle in the settlements, browsing on the leaves of the cane or cropping the herbage on those extensive plains, fearless, because ignorant, of the violence of man. Sometimes we saw hundreds in a drove, and the numbers about the salt springs were amazing.”
